Salvador Sobral

Portugal

Salvador Sobral lived in the USA, Mallorca, and Barcelona, where he studied Jazz for two years at the prestigious Taller de Músics school. During this time, he composed his own songs, created various projects, and discovered his musical identity.

In 2016, he released his first solo album, Excuse Me. In 2017, he participated in the Festival da Canção, performing the song Amar pelos Dois, written by Luísa Sobral, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest that year, receiving the highest score ever. Since then, he has been recognized with several awards and accolades, gaining acclaim from both national and international press.

In early 2019, he released his second self-titled album, Paris, Lisboa, which led him on an extensive tour around the world and Portugal. Alongside his solo career, he has developed numerous projects that span different musical universes and formats: Noko Woi, Alexander Search, Mutrama, Alma Nuestra, Quinta das Canções, and more recently, Salvador Sobral canta Brel.

In May 2021, he released bpm, his third studio album. Mostly recorded in February of that year at the Le Manoir de Léon studio in France, the album consists entirely of original songs co-written with Leo Aldrey, who produced the album. In September 2022, he released the EP SAL, which includes one original song and three live repertoire songs that had not been previously released. Recorded at home in a piano and voice format, it is both a journey and an invitation to enter the musician’s personal and intimate universe.

In 2023, just over a month after his live debut in Brazil—a country he had always dreamed of performing in and that welcomed him with open arms and full houses—Salvador Sobral teased his new original album with the releases of “al llegar” (feat. Jorge Drexler), “de la mano de tu voz” (feat. Silvana Estrada), and “pedra quente”. TIMBRE, his fourth studio album, was released on September 29, 2023.

In February 2024, he became the first Portuguese artist invited to perform, alongside Silvia Pérez Cruz, at the prestigious Goya Awards ceremony, marking one of the most unforgettable moments of the event. According to Caetano Veloso, “(…) he is one of the greatest singers in existence,” and he has collaborated with artists such as Caetano Veloso, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Tim Bernardes, Zé Ibarra, Silvana Estrada, Jorge Drexler, Mayra Andrade, António Zambujo, Marco Mezquida, Lau Noah, Luísa Sobral, and Milhanas.

With his released albums, he is one of the most internationally recognized Portuguese artists today.
